A Blooming Jade

First bloom!

I had almost lost hope, thinking the recent cold weather radiating from the window has arrested its flower development. But jade now has a single bloom on the branch nearest the window.

I find it suspicious that this happened the day after jade was put on the internet, could it be a ham?

Week #2 -- will the buds ever bloom?

It is week two, and the buds have yet to open. Will they ever?

History

To place this momentous event in proper context, I will start with the history of my jade plant.

Long before jade made its way into my life, it was a budding plant in Barb's home. Under her nurturing care, it became a large, lovely plant. Then she moved to SF, where you cannot take jade plants.

So she passed jade into Supriya's care. For a short time it lived in Supriya's wonderful apartment in QA. But then she moved to Philly, where you cannot take jade plants.

So Supriya gave it to me and told me to give it a lot of sunlight, which I have done. And now it has dozens -- possibly hundreds -- of flower buds.
